The Farming Project to Support the School Meal Program for the Disadvantaged Students

News Projects

Agazi Comprehensive Secondary School in Adigrat is engaging in self-reliance farming as part of the school meal program to support the vulnerable and disadvantaged students in need in order to enable them to attend school. The school children’s education has been impacted by the genocidal war, and they have been struggling to attend their school for 6 consecutive years because of the food shortage in their home.

As a result, the school management has decided to utilise 2.5 hectares of land to produce food for the disadvantaged students. This self-reliance in farming and the school meal programme is led by the school director, Yohannes Brhane Sbhatu. He is a highly energetic and committed individual, making the students’ education and welfare at the forefront of the school mission.

This farming project is supported by the Agazi alumni diaspora and Agame people to make this school meal programme successful so that the students in need can pursue their education and overcome their psychological trauma caused by the genocidal war (2020-2022).
